birth of an idea necessitates the birth of a missionary.  Men need to be won over much before their nations are. As Chinua Achebe, the Nigerian ( African ) writer put it:

" Before you ( Christian  missionaries ) came we had the land and you had bible
 Now we have  bible and you have land "
