Teachers of college r least interested in preparation for class lecture
They are mainly interested in
1
Research
2
Industrial consultancy
3
Reviewing or editing of journals
4
Writing books
And
many other activities like conference, workshop etc.
All these ideas were introduced for teachers so that they can update knowledge of subject and discuss new developments of subject with students
But few teachers are doing all this MOSTLY for personal development
Most of their research is not even discussed in class
Some Famous teachers of IIT Kanpur like professor majumdar from material science and Dr saha of fluid mechanics have poor feedback even among UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
Undergraduate students of IIT Kanpur and IIT ( BHU ) told me there problem regarding difficulties in understanding class lectures
I have seen few teachers with high achievements in field of research and industrial consultancy r not able to answer basic questions from text books
2 famous professors of physical metallurgy in IIT ( BHU ) with high achievements in research could not tell about arrangement of iron and carbon atoms in a unit cell of cementite.
Similarly there have been other situations.
Earlier there were not such rules regarding research for promtion but even in those days few teachers were ambitious like professor brahma deo, professor majumdar of material science & engineering department
Professor gupta of material science & engineering department from IIT Kanpur tried to maintain balance between teaching and research
Even before government made these rules regarding research , some institutes and universities had these rules for promotion of teachers
Because of new rules set by government even remaining quality of class room teaching would be destroyed
We don't have quality of developed countries but While trying to copy developed countries like CHINa and USA we are not even able to maintain some of our basic qualities
By copying these developed countries we are not able to become like them because we don't have that quality and Level. By copying these developed countries we are destroying some of our good qualities.
